Our in-house fashion and beauty expert Harriet has today brought to you her piece on the perfect trends for this Summer!

Pastels

Pastels and Powders

Pastels and powders are right on trend!

Sorbet shades dominated the catwalks this season with powder pinks, peaches, lemon and baby blue. Soft, chalky colours were layered up at Louis Vuitton and Ralph Lauren to make for an oh-so sweet style that looked utterly adorable.

Team a pair of Moto Supersoft Leigh mint jeans (Topshop – £38.00) with an embellished white vest (River Island do a gorgeous daisy hem one for £22.00) and throw on a slouchy blazer or statement biker jacket in a fondant shade. Zara’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection is out of this world when it comes to ice cream colours and marl fabrics so head on over for some great finds!

Wanna dress things up a bit? Opt for ASOS’s pink Mini Swing Dress with Dipped Hem (£18.00) and some killer heels such as Gretta Super High Platform Patent Shoes (Missguided – £34.99).

Sports Luxe

Sport Luxe

With the Olympics and Euro Championships Sport Luxe is in!

Get your head in the game with this seasons Olympic orientated trend that’s made up of clean cut lines, lightweight materials and pops of neon colour. Stella McCartney and Marc by Marc Jacobs saw gym-slip dresses, go faster stripes and brightly coloured visors sashaying down the catwalks.

Go for gold with the Navy and Lime Bodycon Dress with Zip Front (ASOS – £15.00) under Topshop Boutique’s Silk Baseball Jacket (£95.00) and a pair of hi-top wedge trainers. ASH and River Island do some of the best sporty trainer styles in a hugely diverse palette.

Mix it up a little with some Zara Pleated Shorts (£29.00), a Project Geo Print Bra Top (£10.00 – Miss Selfridge) and some key accessories such as the Dip Dye Spike Necklace from Topshop (£10.00).

Festival

Festival

Steal the show at any festival by be stylish!

Hunter willies, Doc Martens and prints galore rocked the majority of festival style guides this Spring/Summer. Layer up with cross motif t-shirts, ripped denim jackets and diamante face adornments for a gorgeously grungy festival look.

Topshop’s ‘Belief’ collection is made up of absolutely essential festival picks. For a laid-back vibe, choose the Oversized Dark Gingham Shirt (£30.00) on top of the Mystic Horse Crop Top (£15.00) and team them with Missguided’s Mildred Leopard Print Maxi Skirt (£12.99). Want to up the eccentricity? Apply a couple of starry temporary tattoos (Inkwear – £2.00) around a well-defined eye area.

Alternatively, choose a pair of bold leggings. Miss Selfridge have a great selection of aztec and floral styles for around £10.00 a pair.

Peplum shapes

Peplum

Peplum shapes show off your curves correctly!

If sophistication’s what you’re after, Peplum styles are just the thing! Featured by the likes of Zac Posen on the summer catwalks, whether you choose a top, skirt or elegant dress, Peplum’s ensure you’ll have curves in all the right places.

Peplum shapes are excellent for cinching in and drawing attention to your waist and making your pins appear slimmer. Head over to Lipsy and splash out on their Mint Peplum Layered Skirt (£25.00). Matched up with the Lola Stud Zip Front Bralet from Boohoo.com (£18.00) and some fierce wedges, you’ll have all eyes on you! Garage Shoes have a great selection of low-priced stilettos and wedge heels. The Rappor Black Faux Suede shoe (£45.00) and the Felix Jewelled Black Faux Suede wedge (£35.00) are absolutely to die for!

To ensure that your style investments will carry you through both rain and shine, invest in a trusty mac to slip on when the heavens open. It’ll be light enough to pack into your bag beforehand and you’ll thank the lord that you brought it with you! Jovonnista do an incredible one that’s recently been reduced to just £40.00, comes in both beige and black and will last you for years. You can’t go wrong with a classic mac, believe me!
